Blair Reynolds is political royalty. From birth she has been groomed to be the perfect political asset - first as the perfect daughter and now she's poised to become the perfect wife until she catches her fiancé in a compromising position with his best man. Also, the discovery that her father had a mistress and a child add to the destruction of her illusions and she's determined to put her life together and find herself. The first step is going to law school. Blair's struggles with law school get compounded by her visceral attraction her super hot professor.

Graydon Canter went from the kid from the wrong side of town to a rising star in legal circles in Chicago until he tanked his career, wrecked his reputation and destroyed his marriage. The teaching job in a second-rate law school gives him the opportunity to regroup and rebuild his career and he cannot afford to mess this up. Blair Reynolds is a big threat to his fresh start because he wants her from the first time he sees her but he knows that getting involved with his student would completely destroy what little credibility he has left. Too bad because his body is not listening to his brain and he craves Blair and can't stay away from her. Talk about forbidden romance!

The sexual chemistry between Blair and Graydon is majorly intense but what sucked me into PLAYING WITH TROUBLE was the journey of discovery both Blair and Graydon went through. Blair has been held out as a symbol of perfection, but she knows how far from the truth that is. She's not smart, can't decide on a career and she can't even keep up with the workload in law school. All she has going for her is her beauty but she keeps at it and the transformation is so great. She becomes assertive and bold, not afraid to ask for what she wants.

Graydon has an addictive personality, which played a heavy role in his fall from grace and he's afraid that he would destroy Blair. She has to convince him that what they have is special and she fights so hard for him, but she would not settle for less than what she deserved. Ultimately, Graydon has to decide if Blair would be enough.

"I’m willing to fight for us, but I can’t do it if I’m fighting on my own. And I won’t fight you. I want to be happy. I want to have kids. I want a future with a man who will treat me the way I deserve to be treated."

I love PLAYING WITH TROUBLE. The drama, the angst, the sexual tension - all of it makes a very delicious package. The characters are really fun and the story kept me turning the pages and I can't wait for Kate's story.

Playing with Trouble Capital Confessions edition by Chanel Cleeton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was so close to a five star read. The first 3/4 of the book was stellar. But the resolution at the end was a bit lackluster for me. But still, I loved these characters. And this book. And I'm dying for book three!
Loved this whole series and would recommend these books to anyone. A fun easy read but with an actual plot along with the romance.
I really enjoyed these characters as well as the first book. Gray and Blair have some great chemistry added with all the secrets and scandal it held my attention for the whole story. I really am loving this author's writing and I have pre-ordered book 3. Give this series a try - you won't regret it.
I really liked this book! This was the first time that I had read anything by this author, and I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad to say that I was very pleasantly surprised! The hero was flawed, but lovable, and the heroine was troubled, trying to make her own path and become her own person. I would highly recommend this book.
I really loved the first book in this series, Flirting with Scandal, and couldn't wait for Blair and Grays story! Love Professor/Student stories and the way Chanel Cleeton handled it was perfect! Her characters are mature and straight forward. They still have just enough drama and angst to make you ache for them but don't stay in that feel for a ridiculous amount of time. It's a very hot, intelligent read that has a HEA, which is a must for me! Already pre-ordered book 3 and can't wait until Sept.
These books are so good. I love books that mix politics with romance and this book does this quite well. It continues the Reynolds sisters story with Blair Reynolds, the seemingly perfect girl. Perfect student, perfect girl, perfect sister, perfect daughter. She is struggling to get over the wedding that never was with her groom coming out of the closet. Scandal hits the seemingly perfect Reynolds family and Blair is supposed to get in the company line and play that perfect daughter. In walks her law school professor, Gray, and she's hooked. The girl who has never done anything wrong is tempted to cross that line that could threaten everything.

The best part of these books to me is the relationship between the sisters - Jackie, Kate and Blair. You get the feeling that there is nothing these sisters would not do for each other.

I cannot wait until we get Kate's story in Book 3.
THE GOOD This is a fun, sexy read with a great DC backdrop. The characters are well developed, plotline (mostly) plausible, and steam factor just right. Gray (ridiculous name) is a bad boy with a BIG backstory. A history of substance abuse, an imploded career in Chicago and a broken marriage is the tip of the iceberg. Blair is a straight-arrow, poor little rich girl with a scandalous left-at-the-altar story, overbearing parents and lack of direction. When Gray takes a professorship at the law school that Blair is attending (half heartedly), sparks instantaneously fly.

THE BAD The whole teacher/student thing bordered on creepy. Gray's obsession with Blair could not really be explained and the notion of "he's just not good enough for her" was a bit overplayed. The insta-lust seemed hollow...come on already! Also, the twosome is just too young. For a couple who are just 23 and 30 years of age, there was an awful lot going on. Didn't really ring true...

THE BOTTOM LINE This a great new series to explore. Chanel Cleeton gives us smart, snappy dialog in a quick read that is a wonderful guilty pleasure. Check it out!
